Welsh rugby star wears Spiderman scrum cap in protest about right to see his son

A rugby star who wore a Spiderman scrum cap during a match to protest about the right to see his son has been rapped by bosses.

Ian-Gough

Welsh international Ian Gough wore the cap with his two-year-old son’s initials playing for Newport Gwent Dragons against Scarlets in a Pro 12 match in Llanelli.

Gough, 37, was convicted of assaulting his son’s mother, former Miss Wales Sophia Cahill, in July, days after she got engaged to pop star Dane Bowers.

He is currently going through the family courts to seek access.

He said he wore the cap in support of New Fathers 4 Justice, who have protested dressed as superheroes.

But Pro 12 chiefs said the NF4J logo on the cap broke advertising rules. Gough said he was “disappointed” but accepted a warning.
