Fathers’ rights activists claim to have mounted a failed protest at Banksy’s new “Dismaland” attraction in Weston-super-Mare.
Two members of New Fathers 4 Justice, dressed as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, apparently sought to scale the front of the building using a ladder but fled after being “disturbed”, a spokesman for the protest group said.
“Life is like one big Dismaland for fathers denied access to their children going through the family court system,” said father Pete Moore.
“We will attempt another protest at the site shortly.
“We thought Banksy would like the irony of this protest.”
The new exhibit, which launched today, has been set up at the derelict Tropicana leisure facility at the seaside town. Protesters claim to have mounted their abortive demonstration shortly before 7am this morning.
The artist said: “I loved the Tropicana as a kid, so getting to throw these doors open again is a real honour.
“I hope everyone from Weston will take the opportunity to once more stand in a puddle of murky water eating cold chips to the sound of crying children.
