Rooftop protest at Angela Eagle’s constituency office

PROTESTORS are holding a rooftop protest at Angela Eagle’s constituency office in Wallasey – just days after the building was bricked after she launched her Labour leadership campaign.

A group of people are currently on the roof of her office in Wallasey, Merseyside, holding banners and shouting slogans.

The group are believed to be fathers’ rights activists rather than supporters of current Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Bobby Smith, leader of the protest party Give Me Back Elmo, shared a video of the scene taken from the roof of the building.

Mr Smith stood in the Witney constituency for the party in the 2015 UK general election and received 37 votes.

David Cameron won the seat but Mr Smith gained international attention by dressing in an Elmo costume for the result.

One of the banners reads: “Samantha Johnson fighting for Maizy. Stop social workers lying to remove babies for forced adoption”.

A Merseyside police spokesman said: “Merseyside Police is in attendance on Manor Road in Wallasey following a report of a protest on a roof.

“At about 1.10pm a report was received that a man and woman had climbed onto the roof using a ladder.

“Officers are in attendance and enquiries into this incident are ongoing.”
